Aortic aneurysm is a term for any swelling or bulging of the aorta, usually representing an underlying weakness in the wall of the aorta at that location. This weakeness from an aortic aneurysm can result in a tear of the vessel wall leading to a bleed or hemorrhaging which can be life threatening. Surgical repair of this area of weakness is needed.
