Ayurvedic massage (also known as abhyanga) is usually performed by one or two massage therapists using a variety of heated herbal oils based on the ayurvedic system of humors. Ayurveda is a natural health care system originating in India. It incorporates massage, yoga, meditation and herbal remedies. The different ayurvedic massages include indian head massage (shiroabyanga), facial massage (mukhabhyanga) foot and hand massage (pada/hastabhyanga) and energy point massage (marma point massage).
