A trigger finger (also known as trigger thumb or trigger digit) is a finger that has become ‘locked’ after either bending or flexing. Straightening the finger can be difficult and you may need to use your other hand, it may be painful and may affect more than one finger. If surgery is required, a small cut will be made at the base of the finger and the tendon sheath will be widened.
