Multi level oblique corpectomy is a treatment for a condition called cervical myelopathy. Cervical myelopathy is a degenerative condition that affects the cervical spine. The condition is age related and usually affects people who are 50 years and older. It occurs due to changes in the intervertebral disks that narrows the spinal canal. Symptoms include difficulty walking, using hands, and weakening of muscles. Multi level oblique corpectomy is used on patients with anterior spinal cord compression. In this procedure, a part of the vertebral body is removed with the aim to widen the spinal canal, giving it more space. By doing this, the surgeon can also take pressure off pinched nerves and alleviate some of the symptoms.
